The Binghamton House of Prayer (BHOP-NY) started with a small group of people coming together with a passion to see the first commandment restored to first place. We share a passion for intimacy with Jesus and a desire to intercede for God to move in our city. Binghamton is a small city with many struggles, but we believe that the Lord has great plans for our communities, schools and campuses. BHOP-NY believes that the Lord is calling His people to shine like burning lamps by being vessels for His glory. We believe there is much more that the Lord wants to pour out so we can be a light in this dark world!
We are starting this House of Prayer with a weekly prayer meeting that follows the Harp and Bowl Model used by IHOP-KC. One of the foundational things about this model is the practice of praying the scriptures. We have really enjoyed the process of learning this model together. We have appreciated how it allows us the freedom of being spontaneous while giving the structure needed to allow our meetings to flow. Most of us are not musicians, but we have been trusting each other, and the Lord, as we have stepped out of our comfort zones to worship Him. We know that when we give God the little talent we have, He uses it! We are excited to see how God will bring musicians with a passion for worship and intercession into our House of Prayer! BHOP-NY is being established with the hope that as the Lord grows us, we will be able to hold more prayer meetings and eventually be worshiping and interceding 24/7. We want to be a body of believers that will patiently endure while we wait for the Lord to “pour out His Spirit on all flesh.”
We see BHOP-NY as a place where the whole body can worship and pray in Spirit and in Truth according to the Word of God. Our focus will be on ministering to the Lord and letting Him minister to us. The bible says that we can do nothing apart from the Lord. The days around us are evil. It is more important than ever to abide in Christ, the living Word, who became flesh and dwelt among us! Therefore we want to spend time with Him, study His Word, and minister to others out of the overflow of love in our hearts. BHOP-NY is not a church, it is not endeavoring to be a church, and it is not affiliated with any one church or denomination. We see clearly in scriptures, and in life, the necessity of being a part of a church body and being accountable to other brothers and sisters. We encourage everyone who joins us to be a part of a local church and we require it for anyone who will be serving with us.
Please see our Vision for a deeper look at what we believe God will do in and through BHOP-NY and refer to our Statement of Faith for our beliefs. We will abide by this statement because it comes from His Word and it is the crucial foundation for the body of Christ.
